Education and Income - What Should You Expect?

by Michael Stone

One of our long time coaching clients called earlier this week for a quick review. He has made a major turnaround in his business and we are very proud to hold him up as an example of what can be done with a little effort and determination. We were talking about how to judge the value of education. He gave me a new perspective.

If you take your average income for the last 20 years, that's a reasonable amount to expect to earn for the rest of your working years at your present education level. If you want your income to go up, your education must go up. If you are happy with the income you have, don't waste your time.

You have all heard me rant and rave about reading at least one hour a day. This provides a new perspective on what to expect if you don't read each day or take other steps to further your education.

Thank you Les, much appreciated.

Just got back from the portland home show. And why should a contractor travel five hours one way to go to a home show??? Education, education, education. Came up with solutions for several tough situations for a couple of my clients. Then went to the watergarden section which is 25% of our business and got really humbled. So many awesome ideas and seeing that there are many out there so much better that I am leaving me with so much room to grow in. Down here I appear to be an expert, but up in the "big" city welllllll. It is good to be in the company of others better than I am.
