With the housing market on shaky ground, what do you suppose is uppermost in the minds of your employees? Their job security. Some employees are more worried about keeping a paycheck than doing their work in a proficient manner. That translates into labor costs exceeding your estimates and you losing money. And when you lose money, they lose their jobs.

How do you combat this (besides firing them)? Give their job some meaning. Get them involved with your company, let them know what’s going on and the importance of making the company successful so their jobs will continue. Get their focus back on production and efficiency.
