I am one of those pour souls who needs a little pressure to finish what I start. I have a shop full of projects that demand my attention. Left to my own devices, they could sit there forever. Fortunately, I have Mrs. Stone to keep me focused.
About a month ago I realized deer season was on the horizon. I wrote my list of things to do and have been working at a feverish pace to finish everything so I can go.
Unfortunately, this also happens with construction projects. I talked to a company once that hadn’t finished the punch list on a single project over the previous 6 months. Of course, clients were also refusing to pay the company until the jobs got done. Now that’s an expensive lesson. Not only was he paying a lot of bills out of his own pocket, but think of the adverse publicity this caused him.
It’s easy to start a job and get it going, but many of us have a hard time with the end game. Make a list of “Things To Do”, set a goal, and get to it. You will be amazed at how fast you can get things cleaned up when you are focused.
