Heard it again last week. The caller was telling me his town is different. Everybody is cutting prices to get the job. Can’t find good employees. Customers tell him that his price is too high. I have to be competitive, etc, etc.

Whatever problems you have, trust me, there are contractors in cities and towns across the US and Canada that are having the exact same problems. The only thing different is the name of your town.

My question is, “What are you going to do about it?” If you blame it all on your town, you can’t do anything and things will stay the same. If you take a look at yourself and say, “What can I do different?”, you’ll make progress.

There is an old saying: “If it is going to be, it is up to me.” Educate yourself on the reality of the construction business so you don’t lean on the old wives tales and ghost stories you hear. Get busy and make good things happen for your business. It is up to you.
