A short note to all of you who do electrical work on your jobs.
If you are not a licensed electrician and do not have a permit to do electrical work on a job, you are putting yourselves and your company at risk of a huge lawsuit.
Many home or building owners insurance policies have language that specifically voids the policy if electrical work is done on that home or building by anyone other than a licensed electrical company with a permit for that job.
If you do electrical work and there is a resultant fire (as determined by a state fire marshal or insurance investigator), the home or building owner will not have insurance to cover that loss. Guess who they are going to come after to make repairs and pay for any other losses they might have?
Don’t take the risk. Forget the nonsense of trying to save the owner money by doing the electrical work yourself instead of calling in a licensed electrical contractor to do the job.
There is an old saying that a fool and their money are soon parted, and if you are doing electrical work, you may find that to be the case.
