This has been a tough year for the construction industry. Sales are off and many of our potential customers think we can work for less than nothing. Our national economy and all its woes are at the forefront of TV, radio and newspapers. The worst part, from an industry standpoint, is that we are losing good people to other industries where they find jobs that are less risky. Or, we are losing them to the unemployment line.
It is not easy, but right now we need to focus on the true meaning of the Christmas. The birth of a baby changed the world – we even measure time by that one birth. Our families – spouses, children, parents and others in our family deserve our attention. This is a time to mend fences and reconnect with those we have drifted away from. And I’m not talking about becoming their friend on Facebook – connect in person or on the phone.
Tell those in our military thank you with your cards, letters and gifts. It is tough being away from your loved ones at Christmas. I have been there, done that, know how it feels. And please say a prayer for their safety, even if it is just a one-liner.
Give a warm, heartfelt thanks to those who have helped you this year. Police, firemen, medical folks or any others in any way, wish them Merry Christmas.
Enjoy your holiday.
