There is plenty of bad news recently, especially the events at Fort Hood, Texas (where I was stationed back in 1960). Some folks have more rain than they need, others don’t have enough. To add to our pain, there are too many talkers on the radio and TV who all want to talk at the same time. Enough already. I found the on/off switch, life is good again.

Business is coming back, for us and for you. We are hearing from more of you, and we know you are doing better because that’s what you tell us. The phone is ringing more, you are making sales. People have decided that it is not all doom and gloom, life will go on and they need homes built, repaired or improved. So my question to you is, “Are you ready for new business?”

If things have been slow, the only way to speed up your recovery is to advertise. Get in front of potential customers. When they call, be prepared. Have a smile on your face when you answer the phone and answer the phone like you mean business.

1) Be positive: Good morning or Good afternoon
2) Tell them who you are, your company and your name: ABC Remodeling/New Homes, etc., this is Michael
4) And words they most want to hear: “How may I help you?”

Let them know you are a positive, happy camper and you are ready to do some business.

Hi Michael. I heard a really interesting point from a realtor the other day that should put a bright spot in the day of everyone. The actual checks are being cut and reimbursed for the first time homebuyers starting in early 2010. Logically that means that there are going to be a lot of people with $8000 to spend on new stuff around the house. Now is definitely the time to prepare and raise your exposure in your market for the surge in spending that is certain to come.
